Regularly remove dust & dirt
It is important to brush your floor every few days with a dry dust mop or a hoover/vacuum ensuring you have selected the wood floor setting. This prevents a build-up in excess dirt, which can lead to scratches appearing on the floor if allowed to build up. Floor Monster have a vast selection of scratch resistant flooring however it is good practice to undertake regular upkeep, to prevent these issues from arising in the future. Please note that you should avoid using a standard broom on any laminate surface as the straw-like bristles you find on many standard brushes could lead to you damaging the laminate surface.
Quickly clean up any spills
Although we offer fantastic ranges of waterproof laminate flooring, the majority of laminate flooring is only water resistant & its protective layer does not lend well, to being left to sit in liquid for an extended period of time. You should mop up any spillages immediately with a cloth, paper towel or sponge. Following this, wipe the affected area with a damp cloth to ensure that all excess residue has been removed.
Use a damp microfiber mop for those deep cleans
Every couple of months your floor may begin to look a bit grubby with the toils of day to day life, and you may want to give your laminate flooring a deep clean. It must be noted however, that laminate flooring isn’t as tough as various other types of flooring and as such you should avoid using appliances such as steam cleaners & floor buffers for them tough to remove stains. Instead it’s a much better for your laminate flooring, to simply grab a damp microfiber mop alongside some homemade cleaning solution.
Then roll up your sleeves and use a little bit of elbow grease to eliminate them tough to remove stains. This may take a few runs over the floor to remove entirely, but ultimately it’s a much better option to help maintain a clean & healthy laminate floor. When cleaning any type of laminate flooring, it is not advisable to use string mops or sponge mops to preserve your floor. In general this tends to leave streaks on your floor, as well as making it much more likely for moisture to seep into any gaps in your floorboards. If fluid gets into the core board of your laminate floors, it can lead to warping if it continues over a prolonged period of time.
